Dear friends,

Two years have sped by and here we are at the last issue of our project newsletter. We can happily report great results both with respect to the mentoring circles in each country, and also at the final conference that was held in June in Malta, where we had a lovely interactive audience - all women! - and where we officially launched our online business directory that will live beyond the end of the project.

In this issue we are bringing you success stories from each of our countries and also a small teaser of what opportunities one might find online by looking at the trading section of our network. So have a read, and don't forget to login today and create your own business profile at www.femaleproject.eu

Good luck to all!

Lidwine's story from the Netherlands – Mentoring CirclesTM

Lidwine van As is a software developer and consultant and full of energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour too. After a career as an IT specialist and consultant she founded her own company, Innovaxis. Apart from being a very busy entrepreneur, she visits high school and talks to young girls about working in IT and being an entrepreneur. She passes on her enthusiasm for IT to the next generation!

Lidwine is founder of Innovaxis, a Dutch startup with an innovative take on BI development. Her specialties are business intelligence, data warehousing, data modeling, data integration and data quality. Lidwine's main reason for attending the Mentoring Circles was to get support on topics like marketing and expanding her business (hiring new employees). Through the mentoring circles she met other highly educated female entrepreneurs in SET (Science, Engineering and Technology) and they were able to give each other useful feedback and shared tips. The group still keeps in touch and they set up their own LinkedIn group and are planning to have a follow up meeting too. Lidwine herself is preparing the launch of the first phase of her product (called Omega) expected in the fall of 2012!

Margaret's story from the UK – Mentoring CirclesTM

Margaret Rhodes is 54 years old and lives in Derbyshire (UK). After working as civil servant for almost all her life, she is now in the process of setting up a business that would allow her to get away from a desk job, giving her the chance to be her own boss. While investigating on available support networks for business start-ups, Margaret found out about Mentoring Circles™ for Female Entrepreneurs and decided to join the initiative.

Margaret thinks the opportunity to meet informally with other women in similar situations provided valuable insight to self-beliefs, self-confidence and motivation, at the same time helping her shortlist her range of business ideas. Margaret's business plan is now almost complete and within the next two to three years, Margaret aims to have a business providing excellent home and pet sitting services to clients within the Derbyshire area.

Niki's story from Cyprus - Mentoring CirclesTM

Niki Pitharide is an intelligent young woman who wanted to use her skills and knowledge in setting up her own business. She has a Bachelor degree in Pre Primary school education and a Masters degree in Media Communication. She joined the Mentoring Circles in an effort to discover herself and mainly to find out if she could be an entrepreneur. After completing the Circles, she started the search for new business ideas. She always knew that she wanted to work with children. She found a lot of support from the rest of the team in the Mentoring Circles™. She was talking to other women, and mainly mothers who were describing the problems they faced as their kids were growing up. That's how they identified a market niche.
Niki is now the founder of the organization "BabySitter on Call" which has just launched its website www.babysitteroncall.com.cy.

It is an organization that provides babysitting services at the clients' home or as requested. It could be at the client's place of work or even travelling abroad. She has interviewed and hired a number of young and qualified nannies who are willing to work on demand. She has recruited a quite selective group of people who are ready to offer high quality service. It is the first organization of its kind in Cyprus.

Jane's story from Malta - Mentoring CirclesTM

Jane is a single parent and a bundle of energy! Since she was very young, she has always wanted to start up her own business. Jane applied to attend the first Mentoring Circle™ after seeing an advert on the newspaper. She proved to be proactive with a sound business concept from the first session she attended. Jane interacted well with all the other participants

After a number of years working as a real estate agent and building up a good clientele portfolio, Jane believed that she had enough experience to set up her own real estate business, which has always been her dream. Through the Mentoring Circles™ she hoped to find support and ideas on how to make her business more creative and innovative

Jane's focused and clear ideas were rewarded as on Friday, 30th September, 2011, Jane proudly launched her new business – Sapphire Real Estate Services. Sapphire Real Estate Services deals with traditional houses of character, Palazzos and converted Farmhouses. The launch started with a keynote speech from Jane Chircop herself where she thanked everyone for attending and gave a presentation on the aims and objectives of her business. Then Jane introduced Maryrose Francica and thanked her for giving her the chance to attend the mentoring circles™.

"It was a great opportunity and inspiration for me to attend the Mentoring Circles™ and I appreciate the help, ideas and courage imparted during the sessions"
